A clinic built the way we wanted to be treated

Chavez & Mederos Clinic opened on East Flamingo Road because the people who founded it kept meeting patients who had been failed by the same three things: they could not get an appointment, they could not understand what they were told, and nobody remembered them the next time.

Why the clinic exists

East Las Vegas is full of families who work shifts, drive for a living, care for a parent, and put their own health somewhere near the bottom of the list. When they finally do seek care, they often get the worst version of it — a six-week wait, a rushed fifteen minutes, an interpreter on speakerphone, and a clinician who has never met them and will not see them again.

We built the opposite of that, deliberately and at a small scale. Three Nurse Practitioners rather than a rotating panel. Appointments this week rather than next quarter. Spanish as the working language of the clinic, not a service bolted onto it.

What we believe

  • Access is the whole game. The best care plan in the world is worthless to someone who cannot get through the door. Same-day capacity and walk-ins are not conveniences — they are the difference between managing a condition and meeting it in an emergency room.
  • Continuity beats almost everything. Seeing the same provider each visit is the single strongest predictor of whether chronic conditions stay controlled. It is also the first thing large groups give up.
  • Understanding is part of treatment. A patient who cannot repeat the plan to their family when they get home has not really received it. That is why the entire visit happens in the patient's own language.
  • Care does not stop at the door. Most of what determines how a chronic condition goes happens in the months between appointments, which is why we built a care management team rather than waiting for the next visit.

What we have built so far

Since opening we have grown from a small primary care practice into something broader: on-site diagnostic ultrasound and lab draws, remote monitoring of blood pressure, glucose, weight and oxygen levels, structured chronic care management supporting more than a thousand patients, DOT certification for commercial drivers, and home visits for patients who genuinely cannot travel.

Our patient attrition sits below one percent. We mention that not as a boast but because it is the number that best answers the question a new patient is actually asking: do people stay?

Where we are going

More locations across the valley, more providers, and more of the care that currently requires a referral brought under our own roof — while keeping the thing that makes this work, which is that your provider knows your name, your history and your family before you sit down.

A word about who we are

Chavez & Mederos is independent and locally owned. We are not a division of a hospital system or a private equity roll-up. Decisions about how long an appointment lasts are made in this building, by the people who have to look you in the eye afterwards.
